In its 7th year of running at the local art scene, the third Spring Edition of the Affordable Art Fair starts today until Sunday, 24 April.
Comprising a total of 41 local and international galleries, there are more than 300 artists – with almost half of the participating galleries from Singapore.
“This year, although the art fair is smaller and more intimate – the quality of the art works remain very high. It is also interesting as we are seeing many local artists step out. I believe that it will be a good show this April” says Ocean Wang, Artist.
Ocean’s works are represented by Y2 Arts Gallery and is also displayed this year at the Affordable Art Fair.
A mixture of showcasing new and emerging artists alongside established artists – the styles of the art works ranges from contemporary, abstract to figurative which include sculptures, photography and paintings. The art works are priced between $100 to $10,000 with more than 75% priced under $7,500.
“Weekenders are a big part of our fanfare. And Afforfable Art’s platform allows for that type of audience. People want to be relaxed and there is less pressure here as compared to the trepidation one may feel in a gallery” explains Yu Ying, Owner of White Space Asia. “You can rock up in a pair of Bermudas and walk out with a piece of good art. Personally, this works well for me and I enjoy the fair”
