For the next two months, One Raffles Place Shopping Mall will be hosting two art exhibitions. The first, a pop-up photography exhibition called Collective Dreams: Images from a New Generation will run from now till August 30. Organised by the National Arts Council, this exhibition features the work of young artists given free reign to create photographic content that reflects their individual experiences as Singaporeans.
This exhibition will be followed by Remembering LKY, which will run from September 14 through to September 25. This exhibition will see young artists such as Chang Hui Fang, Pepper See, Sharlene Leong and Yeo Shih Yun relate, through oil paints, acrylic, ink and even silkscreen and acrylic mixed mediums, the impact Singapore’s elder statesman has left on their lives. This exhibition is a collaboration between artist institution Instinc and advertising consultancy Word Your Story.
“Often, millennials may come across as apathetic or even cynical,” said Ng Lay Pheng, General Manager, OUB Centre Limited. “However, at One Raffles Place, we believe that it is important that the rest of the community understand their thoughts as they will be next generation of leaders. Art is an excellent platform for them to express themselves. As such, we have put together a series of exhibitions to unearth the other side of young minds that is both heart-warming and creative.”
