Come 13 May, an exhibition entitled New Beginnings by artist Ms Ong Hwee Suan, will be held at the Visual Arts Centre until 20 May 2017.
Inspired by her survival of a stage-4 thyroid cancer ordeal, Ms Ong has created 174 pieces of pottery in her studio over the last 3 years. Representing the 174 lymph nodes that stripped from her neck and chest during her operations, the pottery pieces will take centre stage at her exhibition, with proceeds going to the Singapore Cancer Society.
Ms Ong says that she feels so blessed to be alive that she just has to pay it forward.
