Technology is redefining art in new ways, some people love it and some would love to hate it. I suppose, when people mention the term technology-in-art, we would think of high laser beams, snazzy new media technology and then wonder – HMM. Where did the original art-form go to?
In this new film, Loving Vincent is masterfully put together by Breakthrough Films to present the first of its kind, fully painted film.
A tribute to Vincent Van Gogh, the film uses the artists’s own techniques to explore his life and death by featuring 120 of his paintings. The process involves a neat sum of a hundred artists, working to paint this full-length movie – where every frame is hand-painted and thereafter combined into an epic animation.
The movie is based on Van Gogh’s life and death – through an honest look at his work, smoothly pieced together and transitioned into the frames as the narrative unfolds them.
The trailer of Loving Vincent is a carefully detailed one. Each brush stroke brings the art of oil-painting to the big screen and serves to tell a story of the artist’s carefree-existence.
Quirky on its combination of art, tech and the big screen – we would really love to see how this one pan out.
