In the form of “canned” art, Iskander Walen presents arty reliefs such as instant cheer and instant fame. A series of canned emotions, concepts and promises – this humorous exhibition is set to showcase come 28 July to 24 November this year.
Taking inspiration from his interpretation of how we live our lives today, the Singapore-based, Dutch artist’s concept of the exhibition is to showcase how we are constantly under the influence and vice of our smart devices. He explains that the concept of canned food is similar to our contained lives. Thus, he would like to draw attention to our sporadic attention spans, of checking in with the smart devices around us daily, through the interpretation of his artworks.
His works also feature some prominent figures such Singapore’s first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, Andy Warhol and Aunty Mah.
