It’s going to be free entry for all at the Singapore Art Musuem (SAM), this Friday (August 7th) through Sunday, when the museum stages its National Day Open House. Currently on permanent exhibit at SAM is After Utopia: Revisiting the ideal in Asian Contemporary Art, an exhibition featuring key works from Asian artists that explore humanity’s yearning for a perfect world. Opening hours are from 10 am to 7 pm, and for this weekend, special national day-themed activities have also been planned for visitors to participate in.
Hugo Boss and Shanghai’s Rockbund Art Museum (RAM) have announced the six shortlisted artists for the second edition of the Hugo Boss Asia Art Award for emerging Asian artists. Three of the six hail from Southeast Asia. They are Moe Satt (Myanmar), Maria Taniguchi (Philippines), and Vandy Rattana (Cambodia). The remaining three are Guan Xiao (China), Huang Po-Chih (Taiwan), and Yang Xinguang (China).
All six will participate in the Hugo Boss Asia Art group exhibition which will take place from 30 October 2015 to 3 January 2016 at the Rockbund Art Museum. Newly commissioned artworks will be unveiled specifically for the award. The winning artist will be chosen based on the exhibition and will receive a stipend of ¥300,000 (SGD$3,300) to further develop their practice.
The biannual Hugo Boss Asia Art Award was introduced in 2013 and focuses on promoting young contemporary artists who are in the early stages of their artistic creation and exhibition practices.
