Exhibiting tomorrow, 26 October, Violet is Jennifer Chalken’s first solo exhibition in Singapore. Presented by Ludo Gallery, the artworks by the contemporary realist artist will showcase at the Visual Arts Centre from 26 Oct to 30 Oct (11AM – 8PM) daily.
In this series, Jennifer tells the story of Violet by “blurring the layers of consciousness” – the subject and ownership of the female body depict moving lines of perception between the subject and the object of the naked forms.
Her work is visually described as a silent tug of war – she looks at the immanence of the female psyche and the expectations of society that persist in today’s modern world.
