A number apt for its opening date, come 18 August, eighteen artists from Singapore and the United Kingdom (UK) will have their works showcased at Ghost on the Wire #2 at the Objectifs gallery. The multi-disciplinary exhibition is curated by Gavin Maughfling and Suzanne De Emmony of DEM Projects, a UK-based curatorial partnership.
Featuring a mixture of works from the first edition of Ghost in the Wire, new works have also been specially created for the show. First shown in 2014 at the Bermondsey Project Space in London, its works include video art by Singapore artists Sarah Choo and Ting Min-Wei.
This year, the exhibition’s theme is Mediated Communication. Borrowed from philosopher Gilbert Ryle, the title infers to his work, the description of the mind as ‘the Ghost in the Machine’. The works in the exhibition looks at various ways of communication through channels that aid and fail us – such as the human voice, a telephone cable, Skype, text or email.
The exhibition will run from 18 August to 4 September. More details can be found here.
