For the next three months, Pearl Lam Galleries will be hosting an art exhibition entitled “In Silence”. A collective of artworks by eight artists, the group exhibition explores the introspective qualities of art from the contemporary era. The artists include American artist Jenny Holzer, Qian Jianhui, and Tao Hui from China, Melati Suryodarmo from Indonesia, Golnaz Fathi from Iran, Sayaka Ishizuka and Singaporean artists Ezzam Rahman and Zen Teh.
Drawing inspiration from Nyepi Day which means a day of silence marks the coming of the Balinese New Year. On this day social activity comes to a halt for 24 hours starting from dawn at 6AM. People are expected to withdraw from each other with the notions of self-restraint and reflection.
In Silence explores the themes of recollection, meditation, renewal and reconciliation. Find out more here.
