Between now and November 8, select venues will be playing host to the wealth of creative talent in Singapore. The occasion? Noise Singapore 2015. This tenth edition seeks to give young artists under 35 a platform to show off their talent.
Among the various programme highlights, which encompass the genres of photography, art, music and design, we’ve picked out a three visual arts events that would be worth spending an afternoon, or three, at:
1. Noise Singapore 2015 Festival Exhibition
When: Sep 16 – Oct 11| 10am – 9pm
Where: B4 ION Station (Event Hall), ION Orchard
The Gist: See the best of this year’s Noise Singapore exhibition. Bringing the best of art, design, photography and music from the event’s annual Open Category submissions, visitors to the exhibition can look forward to hundreds of creative artworks, simple crafts and merchandise by local artists as well as music performances that will take place over the weekends.
2. The Apprenticeship Programme Exhibition: c. 2015
When: Sep 19 –Oct 11 | Tue – Sat: 12pm – 7pm, Sun: 12pm – 4pm (closed on Mondays & Public Holidays)
Where: DECK: 120A Prinsep Street | Chapel Gallery, Objectifs – Centre for Photography & Film: 155 Middle Road
The Gist: Following four months of guidance from creative industry professionals, 34 young artists from Noise Singapore’s The Apprenticeship Programme come together for a group exhibition, “c. 2015 -”. Curated by OH! Open House, these works investigate the relationship between art and self, and for the first time, visitors will be able to experience the showcase at two different venues
3. Noise Alumni Exhibition: BECOMING OF AGE
When: Oct 24 –Nov 8 | 11am – 8pm
Where: Galeris Nila & Utama @ The Foothills (opposite Liang Court)
The Gist: Celebrating Noise Singapore’s 10th anniversary, 22 Noise alumni return to put together a special exhibition commemorating a decade-long dedication towards growing interest for the arts. This exhibition of new works investigates the evolving relationship of artist and environment, and provides a reflection of just how these young artists have come into their own.
