Formerly one part Supreme Court and one part City Hall, the all-new National Gallery Singapore will open its doors on 24 November 2015. There’s more good news – entrance will be free. Or at least it will be for 12 days thereafter, until 6 December 2015.
While the renovated building looks spectacular and practically a work of art in itself, the real art however is going to be found inside within the two permanent exhibitions – the DBS Singapore Art Gallery and the UOB Southeast Asia Art Gallery. Here modern art from Singapore and Southeast Asia in the 19th and 20th centuries will be on display.
Visitors may also participate in activities lined up such as free tours, talks and panel discussions. Also to be launched is the Art Connector, a sheltered walkway that links the gallery with City Hall MRT. For more information, visit www.nationalgallery.sg.
