When street art comes to mind on Singapore roads, Kampong Glam undeniably bags the prize for having the most number of large-scale graffiti murals. Perhaps, one of the more recognisable ones is the colour smörgåsbord at Mexican restaurant Piedra Negra designed by Singapore – based Colombian Artist, Didier Jaba Mathieu.
Cited in his recent speech at a TEDx talk in 2016, Didier says that “A city without graffiti is a city without a soul.” Come Thursday, 1 June 2017, the artist will hold a solo exhibition entitled Outta Scale, in collaborations with #EventCulture, #
BushwickBiotech and#Habitual. The show will start with the viewing of an entirely transformed room by Didier, followed by a live painting performance and an after-party at Habitual (music and drinks provided).
Didier has exhibited his signature wild style in over forty countries at countless galleries and events, before returning to Singapore to complete his masters in fine art and brighten the urban landscape here.
The exhibition will be held at VXX (20 Foch Road) & Habitual (38 Hamilton Road).
