Visionairs Gallery, the new French kid on the block at Capitol Piazza opened in April this year and has had a series of eye-catching exhibitions. Recently concluded was a series entitled Iridoartherapie by Phillipe Maniccaci.
As the name suggests, the showcase is a form of art therapy, best experienced with a pair of 3D glasses. A doctor by profession, Maniccaci aims to promote the experience of a clinical gaze that combines with aesthetics and beauty.
“Violent, gaudy and artificial colours” take center stage in his artworks – to make a conscious juxtaposition to images of everyday life. His works portray the watch of a new millennium where people are caught up with our hectic schedules in busy megacities of the world, often losing ourselves and to sometimes, to be allowed to be dehumanised.
