Happening now till March 27, 2016, the President’s Young Talents 2015 exhibition at the Singapore Art Museum will see five precocious young artists—Ang Song Ming, Bani Haykal, Ezzam Rahman, Loo Zihan and Ong Kian Peng—show off new work developed under the guidance of their artistic mentors.
The works by the five finalists span a wide gamut from socio-political manifestations to introspective journeys. These commissioned works are also up for evaluation by their mentors and a $20,000 prize will be awarded to the winner to further his artistic development.
During this period, the Singapore Art Museum will also be brimming with activity. Two of the artists, Ezzam Rahman and Bani Haykal will be presenting their performance works at SAM at 8Q. Rahman’s performance, Allow me to introduce myself will be performed on the weekend of August 21 and 22, and September 11, October 9, November 13 and December 11. Haykal’s performance, the public assembly will be for one-night only on October 16.
Other notable events taking place at the museum include a Curator’s Tour of the whole exhibition on September 2 and Afternoon Tea with the Mentors on September 26 at the Singapore Art Museum’s Glass Hall.
