Opening next Wednesday the 23rd of September at Redsea Gallery is Spectrum, an explosion of colour and form by Dutch Chinese artist Zhuang Hong Yi. Born in 1962 in Sichuan province, Zhuang emigrated to the Netherlands over 25 years ago. A European life set against his Chinese background nevertheless remains a guiding influence on Zhuang’s work. Combining ancient Chinese tradition and craft with the spirit of modern western aesthetic and working with the flower motif, symbolic to both cultures, Zhuang creates tactile, captivating and sophisticated works of art.
In this exhibition, his first solo show in Singapore, Zhuang showcases his latest collection of Flower Fields, his acclaimed mixed media, rice paper and acrylic works and introduces us to his new technique for creating vibrant colour transitions within static works.
The full exhibition runs from 23 September to 31 October 2015. Redsea Gallery is located at Block 9 Dempsey Hill, S247697. Tel: +65 6732 6711.
