Currently on show from now until 29 August is an exhibition entitled The Spirit of Bhutan: An Artist’s Vision by Ang Ah Tee at the Cape of Good Hope Art Gallery.
The Cultural Medallion Recipient is showcasing an intimate collection of 12 of his artworks that symbolise the ever evolving Bhutanese culture. Whilst enshrouded in the magic and mystery of the Buddhist culture, Ang aims to show the society’s progress in global developments.
His paintings are a convergence of the old and the new – each brush stroke unveils his powerful and expressive craft, honed by a palette knife technique. The works are semi-abstract in style and combines western elements with Chinese ink-painting strokes.
