World famous American photographer, Annie Leibovitz will exhibit an exhibition entitled “WOMEN: New Portraits” at the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station as part of a commission by UBS starting tomorrow, 29 April 2016 to 22 May 2016.
Leibovitz has just returned from exhibiting in London, San Francisco and Tokyo – making Singapore her fourth pit-stop as part of the 10-city global tour. Fans and pop-culture aficionados are in for a treat with a full display of the newly commissioned series – featuring portraits of women with outstanding achievements from all walks of life. The exhibition includes work from the original series of her most popular photographs entitled ‘Women’that was published in 1999.
“I love popular culture and a good mix of all kinds of people. I want my work, my photos to last for a long time…I’m never interested in just the celebrity, but rather what they do” says Annie Leibovitz “There are so many looks to us, beyond that of the magazines. I have less to do with the photograph then them representing themselves in a strong way. This really resonates with the theme of self-worth.”
Aligned with the UBS talks programme, “Women for Women” through 2016, the series concentrates on powerful images of talented women who make a difference in their communities.
This exhibition reflects on the changes in the roles of women today and will evolve over the coming year as a body of work. For more information click here.
