Opening this Saturday at Pearl Lam Galleries is a group exhibition called Space and Nothingness featuring the work of Beijing-based performance and conceptual artist Cang Xin, and landscape painter Pan Jian.
The works on show explore how Eastern philosophy and the ink painting tradition have influenced the practices of the artists, particularly in terms of their relation to space and emptiness.
In conjunction with the exhibition opening, the gallery will also be organising an art talk Cang Xin in Conversation with Yin Ker, which will take place on the same day, between 2:30 and 3:30pm. Yin Ker is an art historian and an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University. The themes under discussion include shamanism, shunyata (void), experimental procedures, and internationalism.
Space and Nothingness will run from 15 August to 27 September, 2015 and opening hours are 11am to 7pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and 12 to 6pm on Sunday. Pearl Lam Galleries is located at 9 Lock Road, #03-22, Gillman Barracks, Singapore 108937. +65 6570 2284
